Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to your personal information when you use kashdesai.com. It is written to be read, not to be impenetrable.

Who is responsible

Kash Desai is the data controller for this website. If you have a question about your data, or want it removed, email kash@kashdesai.com and I’ll deal with it personally.

What is collected

• Contact and Space for You enquiry forms. Your name, email address and whatever you choose to write in your message are sent to my email inbox so I can respond. Please keep enquiries brief and avoid including sensitive medical or financial details. Enquiring about Space for You does not subscribe you to the newsletter.
• Emails and WhatsApp messages. If you contact me directly, I keep that correspondence so I can reply and pick up where we left off.
• The newsletter. If you subscribe to my weekly letter, your email address is stored by Kit, my email provider. Nothing else is required and I do not ask for your name.
• Basic server logs. My hosting provider records IP addresses and browser information automatically, as almost all web hosts do, for security and troubleshooting.

I do not run advertising trackers, and I do not sell or share your information with anyone for marketing.

Why, and on what legal basis

Under UK GDPR I rely on legitimate interests to reply to enquiries you have chosen to send me, and to keep the site secure and working. If we go on to work together, I process your information to perform that contract. Where I rely on consent — for anything optional — you can withdraw it at any time.

The newsletter, specifically

Subscribing is consent, and you can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link at the foot of every email. It takes one click, needs no explanation, and I will not email you to ask why. If you unsubscribe, Kit keeps a record of your address purely to make sure you are not contacted again.

How long it’s kept

Enquiries that don’t lead anywhere are deleted within two years. If we work together, I keep records for six years after our last session, because HMRC requires it for business records.

Who else is involved

• SiteGround hosts this website and its email.
• WPForms powers the contact form.
• Insight Timer supplies the audio players embedded on this site. When one of those players loads, Insight Timer may set its own cookies and see your IP address. That is governed by Insight Timer’s privacy policy, not this one.
• Kit (kit.com) stores newsletter subscriber addresses and sends the weekly letter on my behalf. Kit is US-based; transfers rely on standard contractual clauses. Their privacy policy governs how they handle your data.
• Google Fonts serves the typefaces used here.

Cookies

This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies of its own. Embedded Insight Timer players may set cookies when they load. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask me to: show you what I hold about you; correct it; delete it; restrict how I use it; send it to you or someone else in a portable format; or object to my using it at all. Email me and I’ll respond within one month. There is no charge.

If you think I’ve handled your data badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. I’d rather you told me first so I can put it right.

Security

This site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. No website can promise perfect security, but access to your information is limited to me and to the service providers listed above.

Children

This site is intended for adults. I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will change with it.
